Job Description
Under the general supervision of the Environmental Compliance Coordinator, works with multiple departments to help ensure compliance with all the District’s permits and assist with District projects through field sampling and testing.
Examples of Duties
- Stormwater inspections and sampling
- Weekly & monthly river study testing
- Bi-weekly dissolved oxygen testing
- Part of the Fox River Study sampling and transport team
- Maintain and calibrate field Sondes
- Assists with industrial sampling and inspections
- Daily plant sample pick up, sampling, and login
- Quarterly PFAS sampling
- When needed, report unusual findings to the operations, pretreatment, and field departments.
- Works with pretreatment when responding to spills and other related issues.
Qualifications
Associate’s degree in environmental science, biology, chemistry, or related field with coursework that includes laboratory experience, or 2 years of experience in the wastewater field required.
Must be proficient in Word, Excel, and the Lab Works database. Must possess and maintain a valid State of Illinois driver’s license.
Must have good customer service skills and a team mentality. Must be familiar with the chain of custody procedures. The work environment could include exposure to wastewater, hazardous materials, chemical fumes, and airborne particles.
The employee must be willing to pursue continuing education to stay current with advancements and changes in regulations and best practices in the industry.

This is a non-exempt, full-time position. The excellent benefits package includes 9 paid holidays, vacation days, personal days, floating holidays, and accrued sick leave.
