Job Description
Fox Metro Water Reclamation District (FMWRD) is seeking qualified applicants for an exempt, full-time employment position to perform general engineering work under the supervision of the Senior Project Engineer. Assists with planning and coordinating FMWRD construction activities.

Examples of Duties

  • Works with existing staff to prepare the scope of projects and cost estimates. Coordinates progress towards completion of design. Reviews plans and specifications. Reviews bidding results and references of bidders. Recommends actions to FMWRD’s staff as part of the internal Capital Improvement Workgroup.
  • Coordinates the progress of construction projects and determines the scope of services with the Consultant for Construction Phase work. 
  • Oversees the progress of construction projects. Attends construction meetings.  Reviews correspondence from contractors and engineers. Reviews pay requests, requests for information, and change orders. Resolves problems with construction.
  • Coordinates with staff regarding the long-term and short-term goals of the District.  Anticipate future regulations and trends in technology to include design aspects that provide the best options for the future that are most advantageous to FMWRD.
  • Promote the best interests of the District and maintains integrity in accordance with FMWRD Code of Conduct.

Qualifications
Illinois Registered Professional Engineer (P.E.) in Civil/Environmental Engineering or ability to obtain Illinois Licensure by Endorsement within one (1) year of hire. Two to 5 years of related progressive experience in water and wastewater.

Ability to communicate technically complex issues effectively via oral and written correspondence to co-workers, associates, and the public. Demonstrates understanding of wastewater issues and applicable regulations.

Physical demands include sitting, standing, and working on computers for extended periods. The worker must be able to walk in and around facilities, construction sites, and equipment, with work requiring stooping, bending, and kneeling. The work environment will require periodic exposure to moderate noises, odors, and corrosive gases, and the ability to work in confined spaces.

Must be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel, Drafting / CAD software, and other computer programs to prepare documents and presentations. Must possess a valid driver’s license. Must have the ability to work in a Team Environment.
